As I read today's Daily Bread, I felt the need to offer the Lord a prayer of repentance for my dependence on "self." If you struggle at times in this area, as I do, I would ask that you embrace this prayer for yourself.
"Father, your Word tells me that if I confess my sins, then you are faithful and just to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I confess to you now that there are areas of my life that have not been totally given over to you...areas where I have relied on my own intellect or my own talents and abilities. Please forgive me for that weakness and open my eyes to the pride of self deception that allows me to believe that I can do anything apart from You.
I admit that I am weak in this area and pray for sensitivity to the conviction of the Holy Spirit when I fall short. Help me to embrace my weakness knowing that where I am weak Lord, You are strong."
Is it okay to comment on your own post? I was thinking...could self-sufficiency be a seige ramp around my spiritual life? You bet! It's definately something that will keep the Word of God from penetrating to my heart. Praise God that He has the power to tear in down.
